Here's the latest on Fantasy Map Maker:

1) Fantasy Map Maker Improved Edition Kickstarter! 

Fantasy Map Maker is coming to Kickstarter! We are excited to bring the project there to help produce an improved edition, which will enhance the gameplay of solo and multiplayer modes, as well as adding new content to the game. 

If you have been following Fantasy Map Maker but haven't picked up a copy yet, backing the Kickstarter is a great way to ensure that we get funded and can release the best possible version of the game.

If you have already purchased a copy of Fantasy Map Maker, thank you! The improved edition will also be made available on Itch once it is ready (September/October this year). In other words, if you have already bought the game, you will not need to back the Kickstarter to receive the improved edition. However, if you do want to support the project further, consider backing the Map Pack being offered on Kickstarter, which is separate from the game. The Map Pack will include a selection of illustrated maps made using the Fantasy Map Maker system, such as below.

2)  German translation for Fantasy Map Maker!

As part of the improved edition, Fantasy Map Maker will be translated into German thanks to the talents of game designer and translator, Lutz Pietschker. You can learn more about his work here.

To help get community feedback, translations of the current edition have been added to the game files here at Itch.io. If you are a German speaker, check it out!

3) Rulebook tidy-up and additional player aid

As part of the initial translation, Lutz noticed a few opportunities for increased clarity in the rulebook (thanks, Lutz!). In the update released 2 days ago, all of the files have been updated to remove some ambiguities in the rules.

For example:

In addition to that, we have created a one page player aid, "Feature Overview" that can act as a reference guide for players who know the rules, but just need a little reminding from time to time. This has been added in English and German.

Note: In order to streamline the amount of files, the "Quest sheet" which was in former versions of the game has been removed. As it was just pages 1 and 2 of the Quest cards, we felt it wasn't necessary to include anymore. 

This latest update represents the last major update until the release of the "improved edition". Until then, you can follow the project on Kickstarter!
