Version 2
Thanks everyone who has played FMM, and shared feedback with me!
I have made a few changes - mostly in an aim to make the rules more streamlined and easier to follow. There are also a few quality-of-life improvements. This is still a work in progress, though, so I am eager to hear any more feedback anyone has.
Mechanism Changes
The scoring system has been updated to a roll-and-choose system, reducing the overall number of quests and adding more thematic language to guide the player to choosing quests. There are now 18 quests the player must choose 6 from, along with 3 permanent quests that apply to every game. This may be simplified further.
Rules for road placement has been simplified to fall in line with similar mechanisms like rivers and coastlines.
Events have been removed and replaced with special features. Castles, sacred sites, and volcanoes are considered special features. Special features are placed via a roll-and-choose system, similar to the placement of the first house in the game.
The feature wheel has been updated and colorized for easier visual reference.
Rulebook Changes
A one-page Game Summary has been added.
Features have been categorized more with icons to allow for simplified rules explanations.
There are reference cards for each quest that can be cut out or kept in the rule document for reference.
Additional Content
An optional blank version of the map with thinner grid lines has been added for players who wish for the gridlines to be less visible.
A sheet of the 18 quests x 3 has been added as optional content for players who prefer to cut and paste the quests rather than writing them in.
