ABOUT DUNGEON MAP MAKER
Dungeon Map Maker is a solitaire map-making adventure game played in two distinct phases.
In the Mapping Phase, you will act as a scribe, mapping out the floor plan of a dungeon by choosing which rooms, tunnels, and caverns to draw.
The rules are simple:
- Roll 3 dice (1 x d20 & 2 x d6).
- Use the number on the d20 to add a Monster or Loot item to a room (or area if a room doesn't exist there yet).
- With the 2d6, use one number to choose a room on one of the cards, and the other number to determine how many entrances there are in the room:
During this phase, you will play up to 20 turns as you map out the dungeon.
As you complete your map, aim to fulfil your 6 Quests to earn Gold to spend at the Shop, as well as Torchlight to allow you to delve deeper in your dungeon.
In the Exploration Phase, you will flip all of the cards (and Mapping Quests mini game sheet) over to their Exploration sides.
After preparing for your adventure by purchasing any items from the Shop, you will then enter the dungeon. Starting from the Dungeon Entrance, you will traverse the dungeon room by room, aiming to gain enough Experience (xp) and items to be able to complete the Exploration Phase objective: defeat the dungeon’s Boss.
Set yourself up for success by carefully crafting your map, then challenge yourself against the worst of the dungeon!

I just played my first Drawing phase of the game. I was confused as I thought I had to draw on room per zone - only some of the rooms are 5 squares in dimension and when I add exits (which will end up using a whole square) I run out of room. Also, I'm not sure if the rooms are just examples or have to be the size indicated on the card. Despite this, I had fun...!
Thanks for the feedback on the demo!
Multiple rooms can be in the same area (larger squares) and rooms can cross over the area borders, too. The main purpose of the areas is to determine the locations of monsters and loot (and the dungeon entrance): the areas don't have any impact on the rooms themselves.
Most rooms must follow the dimensions shown, but some "freeform" rooms, such as the cavern and tunnels, have some flexibility.
We'll try to make everything a bit clearer in the full version coming this August.
Thanks again for the comment! :)
I had another go, on my iPad, and this was the result. I added letters next to the d6 numbers to indicate which room I used from which card. I hope I got the scoring right (no deductions!)
Awesome dungeon! Thanks for sharing.
Actually, I think you undersold yourself with the scoring, and you ended up with 76:
5:
1020 points due to there being 2 rooms containing 3 monsters (2x10).6:
2120 points due to the 20-point maximum rule.Looks like you're playing the Map Maker variant in which torchlight and gold just equal points. Nice!
If you were playing the regular demo, the 8 "points" from Quest 1 would actually be 8 torchlight, allowing you to visit 8 rooms during the Exploration phase; meanwhile, the other quests would net you 68 gold to spend at the shop before entering the dungeon. Just mentioning this in case anybody viewing is confused why you are scoring all 6 Quests rather than just the 5 quests numbered #2-6. :)
Thanks for the comments and corrections. As I am using it to generate dungeons for fun rather than exploration, I'm going for points, not torches. (I'm a Solo player.) However, once the full release is out, I'll go for exploration, too (the current monsters don't really inspire me.)
Now off to give Fantasy Map Maker a go...!
I promised Fantasy Map Maker Map Pack would have been my last KS... I guess I shouldn't make promises I cannot keep :)
Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in…
I've been hoping for this from you ever since I played FMM the first time. I'm pumped! Saved the kickstarter page, and I look forward to backing day 1.
Fantastic! Thank you!
And me too: I’ve always felt that the maps made in FMM are begging to be explored. I think the dungeon crawl aspect of DMM is a big step towards scratching that itch.
